ON THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF SEMI-SUBMERSIBLE OFFSHORE STRUCTURES
Various types of offshore structures including offshore oil drilling units, floating plants, working platforms and floating cities are becoming larger in size and being operated in deeper water areas year after year. A recent trend of offshore drilling unit, in particular, is the construction of semi-submersible type having higher stability and working performance in waves. In this paper, the authors report on the structural design and construction of semi-submersible offshore structures, centering on those developed and designed by their company.
