ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT OF A 500 T CAPACITY GANTRY CRANE IN A PORTUGUESE SHIPYARD

The electrical equipment for a shipyard gantry crane which is used at the Setubal shipyard for building and repairing ships of up to 1,000,000 BRT is discussed. The crane moves ship components of a total weight of up to 500 tons. The article describes the characteristic mechanical data of the crane, the demands made on the drives, and the design and mode of operation of the most important parts of the equipment.
