ON ANALYSIS METHOD OF MOORING SYSTEM FOR FLOATING OFFSHORE STRUCTURES
Recently, the various types of offshore structure have become larger and operated in deeper areas in the ocean. From this view point, it may be anticipated that a special mooring system using multipoints and/or combination systems (with intermediate buoys, sinkers, etc.) will be actually applied to practical use in the near future. The present paper first describes an outline of the various analysis methods of mooring system, setting aside the motion analysis of moored body as described separately, and then introduces the computer program based on analytical approach using the catenary solution developed by MHI. Next, the paper discusses the computer program based on numerical approach using the discrete parameter method, "FOSMAP" (Floating Offshore Structure Mooring Analysis Program), which has been developed by MHI. Description is made on derivation of fundamental equations, accuracy of calculation, comparison with the results obtained from a model test and the scope of practical application. Finally, present aspect of designing the mooring system is outlined.
