BONAIRE MAMMOTH TANKER TERMINAL OFFERS OIL TRANSPORT SAVINGS

Designed to lower the cost of handling imported crude oil destined for the United States, the newest oil transshipment terminal was officially opened in January, 1976, in Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles. The new facility is owned by Bonaire Petroleum Corp, N.V. -- a joint venture of Northville Industries of New York and Paktank B.V., Rotterdam, the Netherlands. It presently has an on-site storage capacity of 8.3-million bbl and a jetty for handling tankers from 30,000 to 500,000 dwt. The facility is designed to provide fast turnarounds with an offloading rate of 150,000 bbl per hr. Bonaire is viewed as an excellent natural port -- deepwater of 125 ft lies less than 400 ft from shore.
