STUDY ON WAVE ANALYSIS BY USE OF INUID GEOISMS
An effort has been made in this study to determine the characteristics of the free waves far behind ship models. Through the investigation, the authors intended to evaluate the error due to the truncation correction of the Newman's wave analysis and to contribute to the problems about the effect of local disturbance. The authors carried out the resistance tests and the wave analysis using the geosim models of Inuid, 7m and 3.5m in length. The results of the experiments justified the theoretical consideration about the characteristics of transverse waves. The law of similarity of the wave patterns was also confirmed by the wave analysis for Froude number less than 0.29. In the high speed range of the experiments (Froude number greater than 0.29), however, owing to decay of the wave height near the larger ship model similarity of wave height was not realized.
