TWO APPARATUS FOR MEASURING THE FINENESS OF POWDERS
DEUX APPAREILS POUR MESURER LA FINESSE DES POUDRES
The grinding fineness of cement influences all properties of pastes and fresh or hardened concrete; it can be checked by analyzing the grading or the overall specific surface value. The CERILH has developed two apparatus based on the equation of permeability derived by Lea and Nurse: the first is a laboratory device which measures a very wide range (20 to 20000 cm 2/g) and can be used for all kinds of powdery materials; the second is an industrial device which requires a sample of approximately 150 g and gives a direct reading of the specific surface between 700 and 900 cm 2/g, for materials, the bulk density of which is between 2.5 and 4. /TRRL/
