MODERN METHODS OF HEAT-CURING CONCRETE (3) USE OF ELECTRICITY

LES PROCEDES MODERNES DE THERMOMATURATION DU BETON-III LES SOLUTIONS ELECTRIQUES

The previous two articles dealt with the effects of thermal treatment and the influence of chemical admixtures. This article reviews electrical methods for use at freezing temperatures on aggregates, for protecting structures, for supplying hot water necessary in the preparation of concrete and for curing concrete. Among the latter, electrical resistance heating is amongst the most usually employed. Examples are given of the use of electricity in this field in France, and the technical and economic advantages of the techniques described are discussed. /TRRL/
