PRESENT TRENDS IN THE DESIGN OF LIGHTLY-TRAFFICKED FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS
TENDANEES ACTUELLES DANS LA CONCEPTION DES CHAUSSEES SOUPLES A FAIBLE TRAFIC
An attempt is made to adapt flexible pavement design to lightly-trafficked roads taking account of the economic aspects. The following topics are discussed: definition of traffic characteristics, pavement design, selection of surfacing and roadbase materials, examples. Attention is drawn to the possibility of accepting a lower-quality surface evenness and a percentage of deteriorations higher than for main roads.
