STRUCTURE AND CONSTRUCTION OF CYCLE TRACKS

STRUCTURES ET REALISATION DES PISTES SYELABLES

The author discusses the problems arising from the design and construction of cycle tracks, from the technological and economic angle and as regards the mechanization of the equipment used. Some solutions are put forward: (1) for the roadbase, use of semi-crushed local gravel stabilized with hydraulic binders, cement, fly-ash and lime, slag, pozzolan; (2) for the wearing course, microasphaltic concrete 0/5 or 0/8, which can be coloured or not, bituminous grout containing an emulsion, guss asphalt composite surfacing of the salviacim type, surfacing of the type used for sporting activities, surface dressing. Examples are given of some cycle tracks built in France and of some mix designs for the wearing course. /TRRL/
