THE DUAL MODE BUS SYSTEM
DAS AUTOBUS-SYSTEM BI-MODE
In france automobile manufacturers are cooperating in a joint venture concerned with the development of a dual-mode bus which can be used both on the public highway and, with automatic control, on its own carriageway. The automatic steering, which facilitates subsequent electrification, is complemented by a natural gas combustion motor drive and protective equipment at crossings with the routes of other means of transport. The components, (carriageway, vehicle, control), adaptation to regional planning and the urban transport modes are described. This mode of transport is proposed for the new town of Evry near Paris. /TRRL/
