ACCIDENTS ON THE WAY TO WORK: CHARACTERISTICS AND PREVENTION
ARBEIDSONGEVALLEN HUN KENMERKEN EN PREVENTIEMAGELIJHEDEN
A distinction is made between accidents involving workers employed on road construction sites and people on their way to work. The latter type of accident comprises approximately one tenth of all work accidents but have the most severe consequences. In Belgium, cars are the main mode of transport to work. Statistics show that cyclists and moped riders suffer the most severe injuries. The number of accidents on the way to work is not proportional to traffic density, it depends on the time of day and the time of year. /TRRL/
