DRILLSHIP PLANS USE EXPERIENCE OFF LABRADOR
The article gives a brief comparison between the drill ship and the semi-submersible drilling platform. The experience gathered on "Pelican" and "Havdrill" (drill ships) offshore Labrador during 1973, 1974 and 1975 is presented in the form of histograms, showing the accuracy of the dynamic positioning system. Re-entry and reconnection, efficiency, and flexibility are also considered. Deepwater drill ships, service systems and storage and handling are dealt with. A note on future developments is included.
