THE LIMITATION OF THE CARRIER'S LIABILITY
The paper takes up article 5 of the Hague rules, and discusses the feature that gives the carrier the right to limit the liability to 100 pound sterling per package or unit, if the nature and value of the goods are not declared. It then examines the meaning of "package" and "unit", whether the container constitutes a package, the 100 pound sterling limit, and the "uncitral" (United Nations Commission of International Trade Law) draft rules.
