ANALYSIS OF BEARING CAPACITY OF LARGE DIAMETER PILES
The problem of settlement and bearing capacity of large-diameter piles is discussed. The discussion is based on the results of published tests, USSR, Polish, German, and British standards and on several publications. Two types of piles, open end with an earth core, and closed end, are discussed. The difference in load distribution and in the character of the load-settlement curve for small diameter and large diameter piles is pointed out, and the conclusions and recommendations are presented. Comments are made on bearing capacity calculation methods. /Author/
