STOCHASTIC MODEL OF SHIP MANEUVERS
A motivation is given for a new approach for the description of the ships' traffic process. A simple situation is described with the help of a Bolzmann-like process. The advantage of such a model is the fact that each effect, which contributes to the traffic behavior, can be recognized and is treated separately. To apply this method a complex set of interaction laws must be obtained with the help of a maneuvering simulator. The theory is applied to the situation that two ships are on collision course and pass each other in close vicinity.
