METHOD FOR CALCULATING THE EXPANSION OF CONDENSING STEAM
From analysis of a set of equations describing the flow of condensing steam, a simplified graphical method is presented for finding the steam properties in nozzles, which makes possible rapid estimation, for certain initial conditions, of the onset of steam condensation, length of condensation shock, supercooling, and percentage of liquid moisture. The application of the method is illustrated for conditions close to those of the stationary-nozzle block of the low-pressure part of steam turbines, i.e., in the case of flow in a Laval nozzle inscribed into the passage of the stationary blading cascade and in the case of supersonic expansion in the oblique discharge cross section of the cascade.
