ROPE IN THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT
The paper examines a number of the major applications involving rope in the marine environment, and shows how rope characteristics must be recognized and wedded to the duty parameters if optimum performance is to be achieved. Each of the applications are examined to establish those parameters that reflect in the selection of the rope. The relative importance being indicated in the hystograms. Remarks are made to highlight the affect of particular application parameters and the usual reason for discard is noted. Leading from the analysis, the typical rope construction and size range is shown.
