DEVELOPMENT AND PRACTICAL USE OF SUBMERSIBLE DREDGER
The submersible dredger (SD) was developed to work in troublesome areas, such as at seashores where the sea is rough, in narrow harbors, in particular, where water current flows at high speed, and for high accuracy leveling and ditching operations underwater. The self-propelled, amphibious unit can work to depths of 7 m. It is powered by an electric motor, with power supplied to SD from a land line or a non-utility electric generation plant via a submersible composite cable. Features of the SD design and field trials are reported.
