GAS DISCHARGE LAMP RELIABILITY AND REPLACEMENT POLICIES
A major research programme concerning the reliability of gas discharge lamps is currently in hand in the postgraduate school of studies in industrial technology, University of Bradford. This programme has three basic objectives: (A) the formulation of lamp replacement policies and strategies, (b) the realisation of the cost alternatives in the maintenance of lighting standards, (C) the identification of any particularly significant features of lamp environment which may adversely affect lamp life. This short article is intended briefly to explain the method of lamp failure data collection and analysis used in this research programme, and also to summarise some of the more important results of the analysis.(a) /TRRL/
