THE DEVELOPMENT OF CLASSIFICATION SOCIETY RULES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND SURVEY OF LARGE MODERN TANKERS
This paper takes cognizance of the enormous complexities involved in the design of the modern mammoth tankers and cites some of the outstanding differences in design considerations confronting naval architects today as compared with previous years. Recognition is also taken of one of the principal problems which has plagued designers for years and an explanation is offered as to what the American Bureau of Shipping is doing in a timely effort to assist the industry in minimizing this knowledge gap.
