NUMERICAL ANALYSES OF EMBANKMENTS OVER SOFT SOILS
The paper discusses later developments and application of a coupled numerical-experimental approach which accounts for large displacements and two dimensional consolidation and creep. The method was applied to the analysis of a highway embankment constructed with clam shell over South Louisiana marshland in 1974. Good agreement was found for the predicted and measured values of settlement over a time period of 120 days following construction.
