MERGING CONTROL OF NEW FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION
A tube transportation system for freight transport between major Japanese cities has been investigated. A merging control is indispensible in moving loaded vehicles into the high-speed flow on the main line. The development of merging control methods and experimental results of one-tenth scale tests and computer simulations are described. With information on wagon position, a merging controller can compute optimal acceleration of a merging vehicle and control the voltage to linear induction motors on the merging line.
