HOW CASTING TECHNIQUE AFFECTS BRAKE-BLOCK WEAR
Modern advances in railway braking systems have not yet widely superseded the conventional cast-iron brake block; metallurgical developments still continue in an attempt to lengthen the working life of these components. The article describes the results of an investigation carried out on the wear of metal-cast shoes as against sand-cast shoes.
