OCEAN TRANSPORT OF LNG
Article reviews the history of development since 1959 of ocean going liquefied natural gas tankers, with emphasis on the insulated 'membrane' tanks design. Specifications and design details of recently built or presently being built tankers, such as French Gazocean Co's "Descartes" of 23,000 tonnes dw, and 300,000 bbl of liquefied natural gas carrying capacity are given.
