DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPREHENSIVE COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR THE CALCULATION OF FLOW PROFILES IN OPEN CHANNELS
The basis of calculation is the dynamic equation of gradually varied flow, a first-order linear differential equation, and solutions are obtained by a variety of methods, some limited to special cases of a wide rectangular channel by using a particular friction formula. Methods are concerned with the determination of profiles for a single reach for which the depth is known at some point serving as a control for the whole reach. The purpose of the program described was to produce a method of calculation free from the limitations attached to many existing methods.
