PROPERTIES AND FIELDS OF APPLICATION IN CIVIL ENGINEERING OF RETICULATED EPOXY-URETHANE

PROPRIETES ET DOMAINES D'APPLICATION EN GENIE CIVIL DES RETICULATS EPOXY-URETHANNE

Following a brief bibliography on epoxy-urethane materials, the modification of two commercially available epoxy resins by means of isocyanates with a view to making the epoxy resins reticulated is described. A distinction is made between: (1) resins modified by additives of the hydroxyl group, and (2) resins modified by additives of the hydroxyl and amine groups. According to the hydroxyl group/oxyrane cycle ratio, the resins can be reticulated in three ways through the oxirane cycle alone, the hydroxyl group alone, or through part of the pydroxyl group and part of the oxirane cycle. It is possible to obtain a wide variety of characteristics for reticulated epoxy-urethane materials as regards physical and mechanical properties. The chemical modification of the diepoxides makes it possible in some cases to obtain resins compatible with bitumen used in road construction. /TRRL/
