THE ACTION OF VARIOUS DOPES IN THE HYDRATION OF GRANULATED SLAG

ACTION DES DIFFERENTS ACTIVANTS SUR L'HYDRATATION DU LAITIER GRANULE

This report describes the action of setting agents in granulated slag: not only do they act as catalysts but also as reagents in the formation of hydrates. Soda is the only exception to the rule. In the case of other setting agents, the latter are used up in reactions, the stoichiometry of which can be established taking into account the charts of the phases of hydrated systems. The stoichiometry of calcium activation is determined by using the Quaternary chart (cao, al203, SI02, h20); the sulphate activation from the cao, al203, so4ca and h20 chart. This method has been extended to mixed activation (sodium-sulphate or sulphate-calcium). /TRRL/
