THE BEARING CAPACITY OF PILES
LA CAPACITE PORTANTE DES PIEUX
Results are presented of investigations into: (1) new measuring apparatus (portable strain gauges) which can be used for all types of pile in the standard test on deep foundations with a view to obtaining lateral friction values; (2) theoretical elasticity studies carried out by means of the finite element method with a view to explaining the mechanisms of deep foundations. Formulae are derived for lateral friction values in the case of disturbed and undisturbed soil. /TRRL/
