DEVELOPMENT OF DISPLACEMENTS IN A NON-LINEAR VISCOUS PLANE-STRAIN SPACE
For certain stress paths in plane strain conditions the non-linear and viscous deformability of soils exhibiting, at constant stress state, an increase in strain with the logarithm of time can be expressed by four strain parameters depending on two stress invariants. For such cases, a program for the numerical computation of the development of displacements, strains and stresses has been elaborated; the method of finite elements has been applied by linearizing the rheological relations for sufficiently small stress intervals. The program allows arbitrary shape and loading of the contour of the plane soil space. During the loading the iterative approach is made in two steps: in the first step with the use of tangent values of bulk and shear moduli, in the second step with the use of secant values. After the end of the load increase only secant moduli have to be applied in each time interval. An example of the results has been presented as obtained by the proposed computer program. /TRRL/
