LANE-USE TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL HEADS

This tentative standard which has been developed from functional requirements, presents minimum specifications for lane-use traffic control signal heads. Definitions of the various aspects of the lane use traffic control signal heads are presented, and standards related to the position of signal indications, housing, doors, etc. are described. Specific visor requirements are set forth, and recommendations are made related to definitions for lane-use control signal lenses. The basis of chromaticity requirements is explained, and comments are made on the tolerances on transmittance and chromaticity coordinates. The section on certified duplicate limit glassess, defines the maximum devictions from the standard limit glasses, both in transmission and in chromaticity. Other aspects covered by the specifications include materials and performance of lane-use control signal lenses, equipment for photometric testing, as well as tests and inspections, arrow and x lenses, reflectors, lamps, and electrical components.
