METHOD FOR COMPUTING THE LOADING OF A SHIP'S SUPPLY SYSTEM BY CARGO WINCHES DRIVEN BY THREE-PHASE SQUIRREL-CAGE MOTORS

The article explains the characteristics and control of a polechanging winch motor and describes a digital computer analysis of cargo handling by winches operating in pairs. The time characteristics, frequency distribution and mean values of active and reactive power can thus be calculated for establishing the system loading by a pair of winches. The parameters and functions applicable to be simultaneous operation of a number of winch pairs are obtained by calculating the convolution integral. The maximum loading to be expected is determined by varying the parameters.
