LNG SHIP SAFETY ENHANCED BY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

The authors provide a brief history of the analytical and research work that formed the basis for the Kvaerner-Moss spherical tank design. They go on to describe in more detail the correlation between the analysis and the recent experimental results obtained testing the larger aluminum tanks. Data concerning recent LNG ship collision studies and a discussion of the importance of total ship safety in the as-built condition are included.
