GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF MATSON NAVIGATION COMPANY CONTAINERSHIPS DESIGN 071-D
The paper first simply lists the ships characteristics. This establishes the basic ship, its size, its performance, and its carrying capacities. Next there is general description of the ship as a whole, with some basic information given about each of the ship's functional systems. The final and largest part describes the special features of the ships. These are described in three sections--first, crew accommodations, which is of general interest to all, second, general, cargo, container and deck equipment which is of primary interest to deck personnel; and last, engineering, the largest section, basically of interest to those manning the Engine Room.
