IMPROVEMENTS IN PART LOAD PERFORMANCE OF MARINE STEAM TURBINES
Increases in fuel prices have modified the economics of ship operation so part-load performance of steam plants have become increasingly important. Various changes, including modification of valving, variable steam pressure, cruising turbines, number of turbine stages, use of bypass, condenser vacuum and number of feed heaters, are discussed and evaluated for their impact on part-load economy for both existing and new design plants.
