ACCIDENT PREVENTION AND AVOIDANCE ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGIES
Two studies conducted by the Institute for Research in Public Safety were analyzed to determine how Institute accident data files are used to supply pre-crash information and detail necessary for assessing accident avoidance and prevention. It was determined that the information was in the data files, and other useful information could be retrived in the future. The initial cost of setting up such files, to code as much of the information as possible and to increase their flexibility is therefore justified.
