ECONOMICS OF CHANNELS AND MANEUVERING AREAS FOR SHIPS
The progress report on Economics of Channels and Maneuvering Areas for Ships presents methodologies for estimating benefits for proposed channel improvements. Transportation cost analyses are given for vessel operation and savings due to waterway improvements. Some project benefit problems are susceptible to evaluation of tangible benefits, while solution of others depends on value judgments and discussion of intangibles, such as vessel safety and environmental considerations.
