SUPPLY OF LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS TO THE NORTHEAST

This study identifies some of the information that will be necessary to define the optimum role of liquefied natural gas (LNG) relative to other sources of energy for the Northeastern region of the United States. Included in the study is a collection, analysis and presentation of significant information dealing with the importation of LNG. The primary effort of this study was directed at defining the availability, projected costs, and projected schedule for obtaining imports of LNG. The projected schedule includes estimates of time required to obtain approvals of regulatory bodies, and the time required for engineering, procurement and construction of the necessary facilities. Also considered in the study were site selection criteria for an LNG receiving terminal, and the elements of an environmental impact summary.
