NATIONAL NEEDS, CURRENT CAPABILITIES, AND ENGINEERING RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS FOR ARTIFICIAL ISLANDS AND PLATFORMS
This paper discusses the construction of various types of "islands and platforms" with emphasis on the technical options and trade offs. The "islands" are viewed in terms of their location, type of structure, uses and purposes, current engineering capabilities and state-of-the-art, and engineering research requirements.
