BORING MACHINE DRIVES SEWER TUNNEL
It is reported how a rock-boring machine of innovative design and operation completed a sewer tunnel in Quincy, Illinois, about 8000 ft. long and 40 ft. below grade. Unusual feature of the boring machine was a circular cutting head fitted with carbide-tipped cutters mounted horizontally at the head of the machine.
