AUTOMATIC NAVIGATION OF SHIPS ALONG A PILOT CABLE
AUTOMATISCHES FAHREN VON SCHIFFEN LAENGS EINES LEITKABELS
A survey on the research project Automatization of Navigable Waterways is given and the results obtained so far are reported. First a complete position determination of a ship by an electrical pilot cable is described. Then a controller is designed, which operates on the rudder of the ship, such that automatic navigation with a test ship is made possible on a test waterway with a length of 4 km. The results of the automatic test runs are discussed.
