INTEGRATION OF AN AUTOMATIC, FULLY REVERSIBLE ROAD IN AN URBAN ENVIRONMENT
The Adelaide Southern Expressway, situated in South Australia, is an electronically reversible "one way" road, linking the city CBD to the southern residential districts. A solution that is able to integrate into the existing Urban Traffic Control Management System, without interfering with its normal operation, and able of managing the traffic on the expressway, presents a challenging task. This paper discusses the issues raised by integrating a Motorway Management System on a fully reversible road into an existing Urban Traffic Control System.
