ENGINEERING TRAINING--THE DEMAND FOR NEW SKILLS?

The paper reviews some common forms of casualties, and discusses their causes. It concludes that the more spectacular failures could be minimized by paying greater attention to basic engineering knowledge, and reviews present training methods and testing procedures. Suggestions for improvement in these areas are then presented.
