DEVELOPMENT OF LASER RAY VISUAL GUIDANCE SYSTEM
In secure safe traffic for drivers, the installation of the visual guidance system is an important issue in heavy snowfall areas where drivers can see almost nothing in a heavy snow storm. The road management people already have installed road strips, guard rails, delineators and luminous delineators. However, visibility at the time of a blizzard and in the case that the before-mentioned facilities are covered with snow should be sorted out. In order to solve such problems, a new visual guidance system (Laser Ray Visual Guidance System) was developed by the Touhoku Technical Office, The Touhoku Regional Construction Bureau, under The Ministry of Construction, utilizing characteristics of laser rays which, when it snows or is foggy, are reflected by snow and rain in the air, to indicate light barriers. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
