DEEP VIEW: AN ADVANCED SYSTEM OF DRIVING ASSISTANCE BASED ON RADAR AND INFRARED SENSOR
"DEEP VIEW" is an advanced system of driving assistance, based on a network of radar and infrared sensors along motorways. Each single vehicle in the coverage area is tracked individually by the system, and vehicle-specific information about obstacles (slower or stopping vehicles ahead, queues, and the like) along the route is transmitted to the respective on-board receiving devices, through a dedicated digital radio channel (e.g., GSM). In this way, drivers can be advised by the system on the road situation in front of them, and become aware of danger conditions in real time, even in the case of scarce or almost null visibility. Moreover, the motorway management has the availability of powerful information on the traffic flow for monitoring and real-time control purposes. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
