THE EFFECT OF AVCS-BUS ON THE BUS LANE OPERATION
AVCS (Advanced Vehicle Control System) can be used to enhance the traffic performance and traffic safety, especially in a specific lane. The involvement of AVCS equipment into bus driving on bus lane is expected to enhance the bus lane performance, traffic safety, and the comfort of the bus passenger. Now, in Taipei a grid network of bus lanes is set up for enhancing the travel speed of buses. The involvement of AVCS on buses could be a next step to enhance the level of service of bus operation further. Therefore, in this paper, a microscopic simulation system MISSBUS is developed to evaluate the bus lane performance under involvement of AVCS concept. The simulation results indicate the bus lane safety, capacity, and operation performance could be enhanced by AVCS. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
