THE GREAT STANDARDS RUSH : A SPECIAL REPORT ON THE USA'S STANDARDS DEBATE
This article looks at concerns that the U.S. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) standards process is being rushed by funding and deployment concerns from the government. Potential implications include the possibility that flawed standards will be implemented. Interviews with ITS professionals suggest that contracted standards development organizations (SDOs) select appropriate participants for the development process, and that enough time be allowed to test proposed standards in a real-world application.
