GPS COULD PROVIDE REHEARSAL FOR Y2K
This article discusses the potential breakdown in automobile navigation systems that may occur on August 22, 1999. These devices use Global Positioning System (GPS) which began operation in January 6, 1980. The GPS satellites run on a 1,024 week calendar, which is thus scheduled to go back to zero on August 22, 1999. The article also looks at level of confidence by industry members regarding the GPS problem in addition to Y2K.
