CORRELATION BETWEEN EVENNESS METERS

KORRELATION MELLAN JAEMNHETSMAETARE

Comparative measurements between on one hand the CHLOE-meter and on the other hand the bump-meter and a towed straight edge (viagraph) have been carried out over different distances at Arlanda Airport. The CHLOE-meter measures the longitudinal gradient, the bump-meter measures the vertical movement and the straight edge measures the longitudinal evenness profile and also produces a distribution graph for irregularities. Good correspondence between the CHOLE and the bump-meter has been obtained. Since the bump-meter results are speed dependent a correction factor, regarding speed and bump-meter-value, has been derived for adjustment of bump-meter-value to the speed of 32 km per hour. From the longitudinal evenness profile registered with straight edge the mean gradient variance has been evaluated manually. The traffic values calculated from this become generally somewhat higher than calculated from chloe-measurements. An attempt to calculate traffic values from a distribution graph for irregularities gives approximately the same correspondence to chloe-measurement as other methods. /TRRL/
