RELIABILITY OF THE ELEVATION OF HIGH SPOTS IN SEABED MODELS
Modern bathymetric surveys using DGPS-RTK multibeam technique makes it possible to create detailed and accurate seabed maps. However, experience has shown that the seabed model which is presented in the seabed map is very much dependent on the data acquisition, the data processing and the data presentation. It is thus important to select the most suitable model for the specific purpose of the map. The conformity between the model and the actual seabed depends on the above choices and the standard error on the measurements. The paper presents consequences of different choices and documents that a standard deviation in the elevation to the top of a high spot on the seabed can be achieved.
