LABORATORY STUDIES OF DYNAMIC SHAFT RESISTANCE RESPONSE OF A VIBRO-DRIVEN MODEL PILE IN GRANULAR SOIL BY VARYING THE RELATIVE DENSITY
The complexity of driveability prediction of vibro-driven sheet piles can be subdivided into three main parts: vibro-driver, soil, and sheet pile related parameters. This paper describes a series of laboratory tests in which one of the main soil related parameters was studied. The objective of the tests was to study the induced volume changes along the shaft and its effect on the static and dynamic load-displacement relationships at three relative densities. The paper also provides a discussion of the volume change mechanisms in light of the present results.
